Questions
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to give my name or contact details to see quotes?
Not at all. Just six pieces of information—your gender, date of birth, how you'd describe your health, whether you use tobacco, the coverage amount you're considering, and how many years you want it for—are enough to show carrier rates. Your full name, address, and medical history only come into the picture if you choose to apply.
Are the monthly prices shown the price I will pay?
They're the exact rates each carrier quotes for the health category you picked. After you apply, the carrier's underwriting team might confirm that category, move you into a better one, or adjust it based on their review. These quotes are only for information—not a price guarantee, not an insurance offer, and not a promise of how much you'll pay.
What happens when I click Apply?
When you click Apply, you'll enter your full information and continue into a secure application platform run by the carriers. You can leave and come back anytime before submitting. When you're done filling it out, you'll sign electronically. Susman Insurance Agency, a licensed California insurance agency, handles the application process on your behalf.
Will I need a medical exam?
The answer depends on the carrier, the amount you're requesting, and your personal details. Many carriers today offer quick decisions for people who qualify for accelerated underwriting—some same-day. Each quote you see on this site shows whether that product requires an exam, might require one, or doesn't require one at all.
Is a longer term better?
Pick a term length based on how long you need the coverage. Most families choose a term that covers the years when losing your income would be financially devastating—a mortgage that won't be paid off, children still at home, or a business loan. Longer terms lock your rate in for more years but cost more per month. The tool lets you compare 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30-year terms side by side.
